‘I lived with serial killer for 3 years and knew I’d be his next victim …

Lying bloodied and battered on her own doorstep, Delia Balmer was convinced she was exhaling her final breaths.

Moments earlier, her ex-boyfriend was hacking at her body with a wooden axe and a rusty knife before leaving her for dead.

Sadistic John Sweeney had already butchered a former girlfriend, before dumping her remains in a canal.

And after his attempted murder of Delia, he went on to kill another girlfriend, before chopping her body into more than a dozen pieces, while on the run from police.

Detectives have still not located the whereabouts of three other women who had a relationship with Sweeney, fearing they, too, may have met the same grisly fate.

Against all odds, Delia survived the frenzied attack.

But she doesn’t see herself as the lucky one. In fact, she wishes she was dead too.

“As far as I’m concerned, I have died,” she says.

Gesturing at her body, she adds: “This is not me.

BROOKLYN — The NYPD called him John Doe, when his torso was found in a dumpster at a waste transfer station in Greenpoint, Brooklyn on July 26, 2005.

His hands had been cut off.

His head was found several days later, in a Bedford-Stuyvesant garden.

Police initially estimated his age was between 18 and 20 years old.

Now, the NYPD has reconstructed the dismembered victim’s face, thanks to new DNA technology, and they’re investigating whether he’s the third victim of suspected serial killer, Kwauhuru Govan.

PIX11 broke the news that Govan allegedly targeted his victims along Gates Avenue in Brooklyn, where he was living more than a dozen years ago.

John Doe’s torso had been dumped in a Gates Avenue container, before it landed at the Maspeth Avenue transfer station.

Son of Yorkshire Ripper’s first victim ‘grateful’ for letter from serial killer

The son of the Yorkshire Ripper’s first victim has responded to a letter sent to ITV Calendar by the serial killer.

Richard McCann, whose mother Wilma was killed by Peter Sutcliffe in 1975, released a video on social media stating that he was grateful for the fact some sense of responsibility was shown in the letter.

In his letter, Sutcliffe – writing under his adopted name of Peter Coonan – says: “Yes, I did some bad things, but I just want people to know that I did not attack or murder any males.”

McCann, who is now a motivational speaker, said he believed the message was the first time Sutcliffe had acknowledged that what he did was wrong.

Wilma McCann was murdered on playing fields close to the family home in Leeds. She was the first of 13 victims known to have been killed by Sutcliffe.

He was found

UNT’s CHI Lab Identifies Another Victim of Serial Killer John Wayne Gacy – NBC 5 Dallas

After running away from his Minnesota home in 1976, 16-year-old Jimmy Haakenson called his mother, told her he was in Chicago, then disappeared forever.

More than 40 years later, a detective from Illinois arrived at the family’s home to tell Haakenson’s relatives that at some point after hanging up the phone, the teenager crossed paths with serial killer John Wayne Gacy.

Haakenson’s body, it turns out, was among dozens found in a crawl space of Gacy’s Chicago-area home in 1978. But the remains were only recently identified thanks to DNA technology now in use at the University of North Texas’ Center for Human Identification in Fort Worth.

UNT’s Center for Human Identification said they’ve been assisting with the Cook County, Illinois Sheriff’s Office’s Gacy investigation since 2011. Back then, the lab developed DNA profiles from eight unidentified Gacy victims.

Victim of 1970s serial killer Gacy identified as Minnesota teen

CHICAGO (Reuters) – A 16-year-old boy who went missing more than 40 years ago from his home in Minnesota was identified by Chicago authorities on Wednesday as a victim of the serial killer John Wayne Gacy.

James “Jimmie” Byron Haakenson of St. Paul, Minnesota, told his family in the summer of 1976 that he wanted to visit Chicago and then traveled there. He is the second of Gacy’s eight unknown victims to be identified through DNA testing by the Cook County Sheriff’s Department since 2011, the department said in a statement.

Gacy worked as a building contractor and sometimes performed as a clown at fundraising events. According to prosecutors, he lured many of his victims to his suburban Chicago home with the promise of construction work.

After 41 years, a teenage victim of US serial killer John Wayne Gacy is finally identified

Notorious serial killer John Wayne Gacy has been dead for more than two decades, but some of his victims are still regaining their names, one by one.

James “Jimmie” Byron Haakenson was confirmed as one of the seven remaining unidentified victims the killer buried in the crawl space of his home, thanks to advancements in DNA analysis, Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart said in a statement Wednesday.

Before July 6, Haakenson, who ran away at age 16 from his Minnesota home and vanished in Chicago in 1976, was known only by a grim moniker: Gacy Victim #24.

He joins another victim whose name has only recently come to light – 19-year-old William George Bundy, whose remains were identified in 2011 following renewed efforts by Dart to close the chapter in one of the darkest strings of murders in American history that left at least 33 boys and young men dead.http://www.scmp.com/news/world/united-states-canada/article/2103372/after-41-years-teenage-victim-us-serial-killer-john

John Wayne Gacy: Illinois Sheriff IDs Another Victim of Notorious Serial Killer

CHICAGO — An Illinois sheriff’s office said Wednesday that it has identified a Minnesota runaway as one of the victims of serial killer John Wayne Gacy.

In a news release, the Cook County Sheriff’s Department said that the remains of a person whose body was found under the crawl space of Gacy’s Chicago area home in 1978 were those of 16-year-old James “Jimmie” Byron Haakenson. The teenager had left his home in 1976 and was last heard from in August of that year when he called his mother and told her he was in Chicago.

Gacy was convicted of killing 33 young men and was executed in 1994. Haakenson was one of eight of Gacy’s victims who were buried without being identified. Dart’s office exhumed the remains of all eight in 2011 in an effort to identify them using DNA testing.
