Possible East Feliciana serial killer suspected in 3 fatal shootings makes court appearance

A Clinton man suspected in three fatal drive-by shootings — one in East Baton Rouge Parish and two in neighboring East Feliciana Parish — made his first court appearance Thursday morning in East Baton Rouge after being captured the night before following a police chase.

Ryan Sharpe, 36, appeared in a video hookup from Parish Prison wearing an orange jumpsuit and listened quietly as 19th Judicial District Court Commissioner Quintillis Lawrence, who sat in the court’s Bail Bond Program office, told Sharpe he is charged in East Baton Rouge with first-degree murder, assault by drive-by shooting and illegal use of a firearm.

A 36-year-old Clinton man who led authorities on a chase Wednesday was later captured and confessed during interrogation in the three killings and nonfatal shooting since July near the East Feliciana-East Baton Rouge parish line, authorities said.

East Baton Rouge Sheriff Sid Gautreaux would not comment on Ryan Sharpe’s motive in the shootings or if he knew the victims.

Sharpe, 14227 La. 959, Clinton, was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on one count each of first-degree murder, illegal use of a weapon and drive-by shooting assault in the Sept. 19 death of Carroll Breeden. Sharpe also will be booked by the East Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office on two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder.

Woman allegedly killed by suspected Indian Creek Trail serial killer was homeless

It’s been nearly three months since Karen Harmeyer was found dead in a patch of Grandview woods, but her body remains unclaimed at the county morgue.

Harmeyer was the victim of an alleged serial killer, a 22-year-old Kansas City man charged with two other murders and suspected in three more, four near Indian Creek Trail in south Kansas City.

The 64-year-old Harmeyer lived in a tent in a wooded area behind a church in the 12200 block of Blue Ridge Boulevard.

Her body was found July 19 with her feet protruding from the tent by several people who checked on her regularly, according to a Grandview police report.

The report does not state how she died.

But last week, Jackson County prosecutors announced that they had charged Fredrick Scott with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in Harmeyer’s death.

Scott was previously charged with killing two men

Why Baton Rouge man suspected of killing 2 black men might see his fate greatly impacted by law change

A state law that took effect in 2009 making it easier to subject serial killers to the death penalty could have a profound impact on Kenneth James Gleason, the Baton Rouge man who was booked Tuesday on first-degree murder counts in a pair of unrelated fatal shootings last week.

East Baton Rouge Parish prosecutors sought the change to the first-degree murder statute after reputed Baton Rouge serial killer Sean Vincent Gillis was convicted in 2008 of first-degree murder. The jury deadlocked on the death penalty, and Gillis was sentenced to life in prison.

First-degree murder, which is punishable by death in capital cases, requires an aggravating circumstance, such as murdering someone while committing another crime like armed robbery or killing someone under the age of 12.

Prosecutors complained to state lawmakers after the Gillis trial that serial killers often murder without committing another aggravating crime.

Senate Bill 132, pushed by East Baton Rouge prosecutors

Citing Crime, Victims of Suspected Serial Killer, Gary Begins Demolition of Abandoned Homes

As Marvin Clinton watched the Indiana National Guard tear down abandoned homes in Gary, Indiana Monday, he says he thinks about his fiance Teaira Batey–whose body had been found inside of an abandon home nearly three years ago–the victim of suspected serial killer.

“Once these guys came in a half a block was gone in two days,” Clinton said. “To see them doing what they doing now is a wonderful start, because we know these houses is coming down.”

Taking down the abandon homes has been part of Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson’s plan since taking office nearly six years ago, and the problem made headlines after authorities say accused serial killer Darren Vann dumped bodies in some of those abandoned homes.

The National Guard started tearing down the abandon homes last Thursday, after the city requested they take action through Indiana’s counter drug task force. So far the guard has

BROOKLYN — The NYPD called him John Doe, when his torso was found in a dumpster at a waste transfer station in Greenpoint, Brooklyn on July 26, 2005.

His hands had been cut off.

His head was found several days later, in a Bedford-Stuyvesant garden.

Police initially estimated his age was between 18 and 20 years old.

Now, the NYPD has reconstructed the dismembered victim’s face, thanks to new DNA technology, and they’re investigating whether he’s the third victim of suspected serial killer, Kwauhuru Govan.

PIX11 broke the news that Govan allegedly targeted his victims along Gates Avenue in Brooklyn, where he was living more than a dozen years ago.

John Doe’s torso had been dumped in a Gates Avenue container, before it landed at the Maspeth Avenue transfer station.

Govan’s

A Missouri man has been arrested on suspicion of being the serial killer who stalked and murdered five middle-aged men in Kansas City.
