From lonely weakling to the Yorkshire Ripper: How serial killer Peter Sutcliffe developed his murderous hatred

When Peter Sutcliffe killed his first victim, bashing her over the head with a hammer and slashing and stabbing at her body, he got away with it.

As Sutcliffe continued to evade police he continued to kill , building up a body count of 13 women over the course of five years.

His hatred for women appeared to increase with every murder as panic grew over the serial killer dubbed the Yorkshire Ripper .

At first Sutcliffe targeted women working as prostitutes in the red light districts of Yorkshire before extending his range, but always using the same method of a hammer and knife.

Experts believe his hatred of women was triggered by interactions with females throughout his life, and an upbringing that gave him a conflicted view of the opposite sex.

Sutcliffe is serving 20 concurrent life sentences for murdering 13 women and attempting to

‘American Ripper’: DNA Reveals Identity of Body Found in H.H. …

After more than a century of speculation, the question surrounding who was buried in H.H. Holmes’ grave has finally been answered.

In the season finale of the History Channel’s ‘American Ripper’ series, an investigation into whether H.H. Holmes, born Herman Webster Mudgett, was also Jack the Ripper, Holmes’ grandson Jeff Mudgett compares the DNA found in Holmes’ grave to his own.

Holmes, the murderer believed to have terrorized Chicago during the 1893 World’s Fair, confessed to over two dozen murders, though some believe the body count is much higher

What is undisputed is that Holmes operated a building at 63rd and Wallace. The so-called “murder castle” is said to have been equipped with gas chambers, hallways to nowhere, even a crematory.

When Holmes was finally arrested in Philadelphia, newspaper reports at the time indicated he may have pulled off one final swindle – escaping death

Dubbed the Long Island Serial Killer, or the “Craigslist Ripper”, by the media, little is known about whoever is responsible.

And while no suspects have ever been identified, the victims’ friends and family do know this: the killer – or killers – liked to taunt them, contacting them in real life, over the Internet and on the phone, to pursue their services.

You see, the women, who each worked through Craigslist, shared more than just a resting place:

Melissa and Brainard-Barnes were two of four escorts found buried in the same marshy, desolate area in Gilgo Beach in December 2010, all

Son of Yorkshire Ripper’s first victim ‘grateful’ for letter from serial killer

The son of the Yorkshire Ripper’s first victim has responded to a letter sent to ITV Calendar by the serial killer.

Richard McCann, whose mother Wilma was killed by Peter Sutcliffe in 1975, released a video on social media stating that he was grateful for the fact some sense of responsibility was shown in the letter.

In his letter, Sutcliffe – writing under his adopted name of Peter Coonan – says: “Yes, I did some bad things, but I just want people to know that I did not attack or murder any males.”

McCann, who is now a motivational speaker, said he believed the message was the first time Sutcliffe had acknowledged that what he did was wrong.

Wilma McCann was murdered on playing fields close to the family home in Leeds. She was the first of 13 victims known to have been killed by Sutcliffe.

He was found

This month in history: How notorious serial killer Jack the Ripper started his reign of terror

August 1888 was a poignant month in history.

It was the month when London’s notorious serial killer Jack the Ripper is believed to have murdered his first victim in Whitechapel.

On August 7, a prostitute named Martha Turner was found stabbed to death on a landing of George Yard Buildings.

While she was never formally identified as one of his victims, she is considered as the most likely candidate.

The “canonical five”, the name given to the victims, first began with Mary Ann Nichols.

She was found around 4am in Bucks Row, Whitechapel on the night of August 31.

It was here where the legend of the ripper would soon spread across London as other victims fell to his brutality.

A horror hit takes on the world

Shortly after her death, London police officers began to question the neighbourhood’s prostitutes

Dr HH Holmes, pictured, skinned and dissected his victims

A new series is set to investigate the link between Britain’s most notorious murderer and America’s first serial killer.

In the late 1800s Dr Henry Howard Holmes built the labyrinthine World’s Fair Hotel, in Chicago.

The 60-room boarding house was a murder trap – having been constructed to allow the proprietor easy access to his victims who he skinned and dissected before dissolving their body parts in acid.

He was an intelligent, articulate man and a qualified chemist who graduated with a medical degree from the University of Michigan in 1884.

Four years later Jack the Ripper claimed his first victim in Whitechapel, London.

The identity of Jack the Ripper, the killer who disemboweled five prostitutes in 1888, has
